The Question That Changes Everything…

Sermon By Steven Furtick

How many of you have a vision for your life?

  • How many of you can explain it?

  • Many of us may have a vision, but we have no clue how to explain.

Why do people come to church?

  • People all come for different reasons
    • Some come because the girls are hot
    • Some come because their grandma told them that they’ll go to hell if they didn’t
    • Some people come because they like the music
    • Some people come because of social reasons, of friendships
    • Some people one because their parents gave them no option
  • The Question That Changes Everything By Steven Furtick
  • Why did YOU come?
    • Ephesians 3:20
      • “Now to him who is able to to immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
    • The biggest thought that you come up with, will make God laugh
      • Even your imagination is pale in comparison to God’s reality
      • He is able to do imaginable more than we ask Him
      • God is about to do something
    • Mark 10:46-52
      • ” Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begin. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “Your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.”
      • This man was not going to let the opportunity pass by. He wasn’t just going to sit there and do nothing. He cried out!
      • Bartimaes wasn’t interested in Jesus. He was interested in himself
        • Bartimaes loves himself some Bartimaes
      • The crows told him to be quiet
      • Jesus stopped for the one man that everyone tried to push to the side
  • Why did you REALLY come here?
  • Jesus came to preach to somebody who everyone might have given up on
  • You may not be who you want to be, or where you want to be. But it’s not too late to become who you wanna be
  • The Question That Changes Everything By Steven Furtick
  • It is faith that God is interested in
    • Not perfection, but participation, attracts the presence of God
  • A man does want he can, and God does what he can’t

  • What are you here on this earth for?
    • What is your purpose?
  • It’s not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick
    • It is never going to be enough, we are never going to stop what we are doing
  • Encounters that Empower
    • (not the right way to say why people come to church)
  • When people come to church, what are they looking for?
    • Audacious inspiration
  • The Question That Changes Everything By Steven Furtick

    • To see what God can do FOR you
      • This is what brought you here, even if you don’t know it yet
    • It all starts with SEE

      • God will open your eyes
      • God wants you to see what He can do
      • Up to this point in your life, you have seen what you can do. Isn’t it time for you to see what God can do?
      • I’m ready for a purpose now, I’m ready for meaning. I’m ready for a well that won’t dry, For bread that satisfies
      • Do you want to one day be thinking about what God could’ve done? Would’ve done? Or do you want to see?
    • It all starts when you want to see what God can do for you
    • It is by grace that we are saved through faith
      • I can’t do it for myself
    • See what God can do THROUGH you
    • Ephesians 3:20
      • Your potential is equal to God’s power
      • Nothing is impossible to him who believes
    • God has a job to do
      • He’s about redeeming, about restoring, but He’s going to do it through you
    • God wants His power to flow through you
    • Through you!
    • Are you ready to see what God can do through you?
