“Beauty is pain” I’ve heard this phrase everywhere while growing up. People always tell me that beauty comes with a price, a painful one. But at the same time, I was also told that “I’m beautiful just the way I am.” Which one of these are we supposed to believe? Which one is right?
Am I supposed to believe that I’m beautiful just the way I am, or that I have to suffer in order to ‘become’ beautiful? Many of girls believe the first phrase that “Beauty is pain.” So they go through these painful processes, in order to become beautiful like getting a body wax or your eyebrows waxed, spending countless of hours straightening or curling your hair while at risk of burning yourself, and so on…. But not all girls choose to go through this. The ones who choose not too, tend to feel ugly. Why is it that society accepts men for the what they are but not women? Instead society expects us women to get our nails done, eat healthy, be skinny, put make-up on, and so on. In the end, does it really matter? Does our world really revolve around what other people think of us? We don’t have to try so hard to be beautiful. You don’t have to suffer to be beautiful. You are beautiful just the way you are. Always remember that!
