‘Ugh, I did it again! Why do I keep doing this?’ This phrase has came across my mind way too many times to count. I’m sure that I’m not alone in this. I’m not the only one who makes mistakes, everyone does. Its a part of life. But once you reach a certain amount of mistakes, you start to feel like a failure. I have felt like that more than once. During those difficult times in my life, I failed to realized that through those mistakes, I was learning how to become a stronger and better christian. I realize that now and so should you!
The type of mistake you make varies from person to person. But there is one mistake that I’m sure we’ve all made. We say things that we don’t mean. We all fail to think before we speak. Many just blurt out whatever comes to mind. As soon as they realized what they said, they regret it and try to apologize. But the damage is already done. You can’t take back something you already said. All you can do is apologize, though that doesn’t really work. As christians, we need to realize that we are not perfect. Nobody is perfect expect Jesus Christ. You want to know how to deal with your mistakes? Look in the scripture. Its all written there. When we make a mistake, we shouldn’t dwell on it. It will only make things worse. We have to accept it and learn from it. Then we have to move on.
1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Our God is a forgiving God and He is able and willing to forgive our sings. We are the problem. So many of us give ourselves a hard time about making a mistake. We need to forgive ourself in order to move on. Revelation 3:19 says “Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” I’m not saying that there won’t be consequences for your mistakes. There will be, but that is Gods’ way of showing us that He cares. He is showing us that we made a mistake and that we need to learn from it. Once we learn from it, we move on.
