Have you ever held something against someone? I’m sure that most of us have been in these kind of situations. Me, for one, I’ve been in so many of these situations that I started to think that it was apart of normal life. But it’s not. When you hold a grudge, you stop yourself from living and being happy. You become so focused on being mad at someone that you don’t realize that life is passing you by.
In the Bible it says “Yet the righteous will hold to his way, And he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger.” – Job 17:9 In a short sentence it says that the righteous keep moving forward. They don’t have time to stop and be upset over something that happened in the past. If we make constant stops along our way to heaven, we waste so much time and we may get lost along the way. We may lose sight of the direction that we were originally headed in. By moving on, we ensure that our focus is only on God. If we can’t move on, we slowly start to lose sight of our main focus, God, and start to focus on things that don’t matter at all.
The other day while on Instagram, I came across a quote that said ” There’s no reason to look back when you have so much to look forward too.” Looking back isn’t going to change what happened and it’s not going to make your future better. If you spend so much of your time living in the past, you’re not going to have a lot to look forward to in your future. Isaiah 43:18 says ” Forget what happened to you in the past, and do not dwell on events from long ago.” By holding a grudge, you are forcing yourself to keep reliving a moment from the past. But no matter how much you relive it, the past isn’t going to change. We have no control over that. There’s absolutely nothing that we can do about it in the present, except let it go. What we do have control over, is our future. So make the best of it!
