Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you can never fit in? There are some people who seem like they have a perfect life and are friends with everyone. While you’re on the outside looking in. Yeah that’s me. When I’m with a group of people, I feel like a sore thumb that sticks out. No matter how hard I try to connect with the people, they never seem to accept me. I’ve tried changing many different things about me so that I would be accepted by everyone. For example, I changed the way I talk. I use to never curse because I was taught growing up that it was a bad thing. But when I was with all my friends they all cursed and I felt like the odd-ball out because I was the only one who didn’t. So I started to curse a little now and then. Still I didn’t feel like I was accepted. So I changed the way I dressed. I started to wear clothes that I usually wasn’t allowed to wear. My parents would sometimes make me go change but this got me noticed by my friends. They were like “wow you look different!” This was exciting to me because they rarely noticed me but this only lasted for a short period of time. So then I changed the music I listened too. I use to only listen to christian music but it seemed like all of my friends listened to everything but that. I started to listening to their kind of music whenever I got the chance. Yet that didn’t help at all. What I got from this is that no matter how hard I tried to fit in, to be like them, I just couldn’t. While trying to fit in with my friends I started to stray away from God. Trying to fit in in this world, almost cost me my relationship with Christ. After feeling like I was being pushed away from my friends, I turned to God. Surprisingly he was still there all that time waiting for me to turn back to him. I learned that as a follower of Christ I wasn’t born to fit in. I was born to stand out. Nowadays, I don’t try to fit in because I know that God made me the way I am for a reason. I have a purpose here  on earth and it isn’t to fit in. I was born to stand out and that’s exactly what I  am going to do.
